au revoir, carine
To all you power-hungry fashionistas (ugh, I hate that word) - there's a new job opening in the industry that you might need to know about.
Editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld, has announced that she will be leaving her post! After ten amazing years at the magazine, she will be leaving to pursue, well, something else. What? - I'm not sure. I mean after all, what more could you ask for, being the queen of Parisian fashion?
Alas, in a matter of weeks, she will be gone. The big question: Who will be taking her place? Any ideas?

So it appears as though somebody has taken at least one (if not many more) of my photos off my Facebook and created a profile by the name of Nastia Key. Please report it because it is weirding me out!

fantasia
A few weeks ago, I downloaded and watched Fantasia. It had been so long since I had last seen it so it and I had forgotten about a lot of the scenes. It also hadn't really occurred to me before how beautiful the animation is in it. I suppose that's because I was probably 9 when I last watched it. Here are some of my favourite film stills I took while watching.

the selby
Lately I've been really into interior design. I so badly want to redo my room, but thanks to my lack of funds, I constantly find myself resorting to rearranging my knick knacks and, well... that's about it. I've been meaning to make a trip to value village soon to pick up some trinkets. I was also debating a trip to ikea, but that always ends in me sobbing over a $1 frozen yogurt cone at the checkout, wishing one of the "bedrooms" upstairs was mine.
ANYWAY, that brings me (somehow) to The Selby! I shouldn't have to explain it, but The Selby is the website of Todd Selby who is a photographer who takes photos of (awesome) people's homes. "Awesome" applying to both the people and the homes. Here are a few of my favourites...

THOMAS// SS2011
It's that time of year again that all of us Torontonians have been anticipating... LG Fashion Week! (Note the hint of sarcasm in my voice.)
To be fair, this season deserves much more recognition than past seasons. This is thanks to the newly established "The Fashion Collective," comprised of my friends Kate Mullin, Dwayne Kennedy and Brian A. Richards. The Fashion Collective provides a fresh take on the seemingly lacking Toronto fashion industry by supporting the talented up and comers that would have otherwise been overlooked by the Fashion Design Council of Canada. Among these designers are my friends Drew and Mikey (Michael) Thomas whom I have mentioned in many other posts. Thanks to The Fashion Collective, THOMAS// SS2011 debuted at LG Fashion Week last night.
The THOMAS// SS2011 collection was much more refined than past collections. Having moved past the shredding trend, the designers created a far more tailored and sophisticated collection featuring long button-down tunics, draped cardigans, and leather bermuda shorts. A favourite of the show-goers were the ruched black skinny jeans, which I later found out were cut in a concave C-shape so that when worn, became scrunched around the knee. My personal favourite pieces were the black skinny jeans with a horizontal front slit just above the knee, as well as the hooded silk cape that had been made in wool last season.
Seeing my friends make it to LG Fashion Week has made me feel like a proud mother, as I'm sure many other friends of theirs feel. I look forward to seeing how they develop their line in seasons to come!
