EMILY SENKO | MARIE CLAIRE ITALIA March 2011

I'm absolutely in love with this shoot. I came across it when browsing the Ford Models Blog. I love how inspiration from Frida Kahlo and Latin America are taken and reworked to suit the upcoming trends of Spring 2011. The use of colour is beautiful and actually makes me want to wear it. My favourite, however, is the purple lipstick worn in the fifth photo. I need it.

I finally finished the last installment in my series of films for my capstone project on androgyny in the fashion industry. It's been an interesting journey, teaching yourself techniques on Final Cut Pro and trying to make footage you took when both you and your model were hungover look good. Alas, here it is!

the weeknd

The Weeknd's new EP is phenomenal. It's sexy and relaxing with amazing beats and hints of dubstep in some tracks. Normally I hate it when artists sample other songs, but The Weeknd does it just right. Take House of Balloons - Glass Table Girls, for example, that uses music from Siouxsie & the Banshees' song Happy House in a blatantly obvious manner, but slows it down just right and switches up the lyrics to make it their own. Anyway, long story short - it's great. Download the album here.

Today, I made a successful trip to VV.

I'm trying really hard to embrace colours for spring.
This is a loosely knit, sheer cream sweater. Not sure how much I love the wide neckline, but I think it will be a great piece to throw on when I find myself at Bellwoods on a summer night (a.k.a. every night starting late April).
I realize these photos are terrible... I can't be bothered to whip out the DSLR for this post. Anyway, speaking of terrible photos, this is an asymmetrical black chiffon skirt that I scored. It originally had another layer of chiffon on top, but it looked a bit too witchy (in the bad, tacky halloween costume way), so I cut off the top layer. I also managed to cut a hole in the layer I wanted to salvage - ugh. At least it's not noticeable.

That's all for now. Lots of good things/news to come, though. Stay tuned.
