just a small town girl

so, yesterday evening was spent driving two and a half hours southwest of toronto to springford, ontario for a crush luther music video shoot... it rained the whole time and i think that's a sign that i'm not meant to be in a small town. it was a nice break from the city and this weekend's riots, though. i got to ride a diamond t motor car hearse (!!) circa 1928 and hang out with some really great people! video coming soon...

topshop is FINALLY landing in toronto! boutique store jonathan + olivia on ossington avenue at queen street west has the honor of showcasing some of topshop's lines in what will be a new 800 square foot space at the back of the pre-existing store.

it opens to the public this coming saturday, june 19 at 9am. see you there!

so, the coolest older woman came into TNT today. she reminded me of a younger, prettier vivienne westwood with her fiery hair. she's one of those rare people you come across and think to yourself, "i wanna be just like her when i'm that age." though she may not have been wearing plaid or listening to the sex pistols a-la-westwood, her hair combined with her cream coloured floor-length skirt and matching oversized sweater, floral scarf and cat-eye glasses made for an equally stylish ensemble. i wish i snapped a picture.

after helping her stock up on line sweaters and - get this - hanky pankies (!), i couldn't help but ask her what she did for a living. she told me she is a shoe designer! she beads and dyes shoes for celebration in yorkville. she also went on to enlighten me about an amazing clothing line from the UK called all saints. so good! how is this woman so hip with the times?! she also just got back from china.

so to conclude, i want to be her.

for those of you who don't know, this is my baby. i spent a whole school year working on this fashion show. i was the art director of the opening video, helped cue the show, chose and arranged the music, choreographed and timed the models, organized a performance by fritz helder, and oversaw the lighting of the set and runway. i was more or less the assistant creative director. (along side aria kushnirenko & nadine nevitt!)
