my summer thus far has been sub-par (i'm a poet and i didn't even know it), and though i love toronto, i'm definitely in need of a getaway. so i decided the best way to reverse this before it's too late was to quit my job and travel.
first new york.
then home? myrtle beach? mexico?
if anybody wants to travel somewhere with me, i'm keeping my options open and would love company.

the artiste
this is my best friend, rachael. she's featured in the august 2010 issue of FLARE!
THE ARTISTE: Rachael Meckling Hometown: Saskatoon, Sask. Illustrator Rachael Mecling, 20, may still be a student at Ryerson University but this FLARE intern's whimsical drawings are already hanging on our art director's walls - fitting, considering Meckling herself dreams of becoming an art director one day. Idols: "Gwen Stefani. She is such a novelty and I love how literal her style inspirations are. Also, Coco Chanel, Virginia Woolf and my mother - the obstacles that they overcame in their lives gives me the [motivation] to work just as hard." Words to live by: "It's unfortunate that some people search high and low for something that can be so obvious," says Meckling before citing Aristotle's famous quote: "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
